In the summer of 2015, we acquired a 42.7 acre property in Pomfret from siblings Robert Valentine and Mary Feathers. The land is especially valuable to us because it abuts our 125-acre Gellert preserve, the state’s Airline trail, and the New England Forestry Foundation’s Kimball preserve.
The land is part of a large forest block important for forest nesting interior birds. The majority of the forest is composed of oak and birch trees. In the section of the property where past logging had been conducted a thick shrub understory exists.
