The Wyndham Land Trust is excited to announce the 4th Annual Ride for Open Space! Join fellow riders on October 4th for a memorable day of trail riding through the scenic preserves of northeastern Connecticut. This popular equestrian fundraiser supports our ongoing work to protect open space in the Quiet Corner—for wildlife, clean air and water, community enjoyment, and future generations.

Last year’s 3rd Annual Ride was our biggest and most spirited yet. On a sunny October day at our Cabbage Hill Preserve in Woodstock, over 70 riders enjoyed more than nine miles of beautiful trails winding through Nightingale Forest and connecting conserved lands. Generous landowners opened their fields and trails and the day was filled with community, and the joy of riding for a cause.

The 2026 WLT Ride for Open Space will take place on October 4th. Registration information and links will be coming soon.

Our trail systems not only provide opportunities for hiking and wildlife observation but also serve as vital resources for the equestrian community. Horseback riding fosters a deep connection with the land while promoting health, recreation, and outdoor enjoyment. By conserving land and maintaining trails, we create lasting benefits—protecting ecosystems, strengthening community, and ensuring that riders, hikers, and all who love the outdoors can continue to experience the beauty and tranquility of our preserved landscapes.
