Hikers gathered at WLT’s Nightingale Forest to learn about generations of people of color connected to this land.
The inaugural Pathways to Nature Black History Hike was held at WLT’s Nightingale Forest recently, organized by Vanessa Daye of the Connecticut Land Conservation Council with NAACP Windham/Willimantic Chapter. Donna Dufresne of the Pomfret Historical Society led the group and shared the complex history of early black inhabitants to ensure we don’t forget their importance in the history of our community.
