Lower Pond Preserve

The Lower Pond Preserve was originally purchased by The Nature Conservancy and ownership was transferred to the land trust in 2010. Atlantic White Cedar, white pine, and hemlock dominate this preserve, which is home to many rare and endangered plants and to a variety of species of nesting birds, such as great blue herons and ravens. Much of this preserve is inaccessible, due to thick cedar swamps, and beaver flowages.
The role of the land trust is to preserve the fragile environment surrounding Lower Pond, and we do not encourage public access. If you would like to visit the preserve, contact the land trust and we will arrange for a board member or steward to accompany you.
