Woodstock

The Hauser Preserve, north of Tayler Road in Woodstock, was donated to the land trust in 2006. The preserve was created from one of the first conservation subdivision projects in our region. One half of the 55-acre property is to be used for 14 houses on lots ranging between 0.75 and 2.28 acres, and the other half has been set aside as open space and donated to the land trust. For a regular subdivision, the minimum lot size would have been 2.5 acres. The new preserve is adjacent to 40 acres owned by the Nature Conservancy. “Smart growth” projects like this may represent the future of development in our region.
